Come to GenCyber Camp - a free, beginners cybersecurity camp on the 18JAV campus with online curriculum. 

This Summer 2024, learn how to hack (ethically of course) during July 8–12, and with asynchronous activities to complete in the weeks prior and following.

Understand the Camp Schedule

This completely free camp, sponsored by the National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation, offers an amazing mix of in-person, remote, synchronous, asynchronous, and off-line experiences.

GenCyber camp runs from July 8–12, on the 18JAV campus, but to be accepted to the camp you must be willing to commit to the full three weeks of pre-camp as well as.

Pre-Camp: June 17–July 5

You'll complete these activities online, at your own pace and time (internet access needed)

Camp: July 8–12

Our online synchronous collaborative portion (8:30 am–3:30 pm) combines online and off-line work that makes sure to include fun activities, built-in games, and breaks.

 

Post Camp: July 15–26

These online projects you'll work on remotely, with your GenCyber friends and individually, at your own pace

Outcomes and Benefits

This program provides numerous benefits. Beyond the GenCyber certificate you'll earn by completing the program, you'll be given:

  • individual, pair/small group, and whole class instruction
  • awards and prizes
  • an Arduino (an open hardware development board)
  • a camp T-shirt, backpack, and additional goodies
  • extra events, like movie nights
  • follow-up activities in Fall 2024 to keep the learning going

Application and Supplemental Materials

The camp application (where you'll answer a set of questions and write a short essay) also asks you to supply us with a teacher’s name and email address so that we can request a letter of recommendation. We will contact the teacher directly for this letter.

In addition, the application has a place for you to upload a signed Photo Release Form. Please read, sign, have your parent/guardian read and sign, and then upload the form to the application. We will take a few group photos at the camp and we need your permission to share them.
